In 1976 Larry Mullen Jr. posted a note on a bulletin board at his school looking for new musicians. The note was quickly answered by Paul Hewson now known as Bono, Dave Evans now known as The Edge and Adam Clayton. Their first name was Feedback, which became The Hype very soon after that, and changed once more to U2 in 1978. They later went on to win a talent show in Dublin, Ireland with CBS records, who gave them the studio time to record their first album entitled "Boy." "Boy was released in 1980.

U2 has gone through many stages as a band, first from young Irish rockers to one of the biggest bands in the world today. They have never lost a bit of the energy that they started with as youths in Ireland in high school. They have spanned close to thirty years and have stayed popular all of this time. They continue to come out with great albums as they settle into their position of a timeless rock band.
