What this Tuesday's got to offer: New releases for September 2nd
by Nick Giancola posted September 2, 2008
Another week gone by, another fresh set of new discs for us all to enjoy. The following are my selections from Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008's offering of new music.

To celebrate the end of summer this year we launched a new website (hope you've been diggin' it, particularly the nice presentation of my new releases column on the homepage) but I think beach boy Brian Wilson outdid us this week with his release of yet another ode to that beautiful summer sun. That Old Lucky Sun is the name of the record.

Shall Noise Upon by Apollo Sunshine.

The Chemical Brothers release their most recent singles compilation, titled Brotherhood. It's a two disc set with 14 singles and one new track "Keep My Composure" on the first disc and ten "Electronic Battle Weapons" on the second. (Hint: one weapon is radio hit "Midnight Madness.")

Unkle release their End Titles... Stories for Film physically this week, after it hit digital retailers earlier this summer.

From the Mountain to the Sea by Birdmonster also gets out of the machine today with its physical release. Tonight and tomorrow they'll playing shows in LA and SF, with a more extensive tour to follow in October: Check out the dates.

Mexican songstress Lila Downs releases bi-lingual album Shake Away. Check her out: her website, her MySpace.

One of my favorites this week, heavy blues-rockers Brimstone Howl return with We Came In Peace. Take a listen to these guys: "A Million Years" mp3.

Freshkills release their self-titled (and self-released!) sophomore record.

Oakland hip-hop duo the High Decibels release HD. Take a listen: "Miss Cindy" mp3.

Shugo Tokumaru releases Exit, his first album to be released Stateside (and third overall). Beware, but don't be scared: the lyrics are in Japanese.

And, finally, downtempo chillers Nightmares on Wax release their eighth album, Thought So...
